An injury – I need some rest...

I want to take a moment to thank you for your patience and support. I haven’t been able to update our blog and social media posts as often as I hoped since the beginning of summer, and here’s why.

Over the summer, I strained my right elbow during a DIY backyard project which slowed down soap production. Thankfully, it healed well enough and I was back on track — until this past weekend (Sep. 20) when I had a cycling accident and broke my collarbone. Fortunately I’m okay, but my right arm is in a brace, and since I’m right-handed, many parts of soap making — soap production, slicing, stamping, wrapping, and packaging — simply can’t be done right now.

Skipping Stone Soap is a very small business with me (Masa) and occasional help from my spouse. As a one-person operation, sometimes I have no choice but to pause and rest. For the moment, I’ve put a temporary break on our online shop. The good news is: healing is underway, and I’ll be back to making soaps as soon as I’m able, hopefully in a few weeks.

Thank you so much for your understanding, and support — I truly appreciate it. I look forward to creating for you again. We’ll be back soon.

[Updates September 24]

Over the past few days, I’ve been reflecting on what I can and can’t do after the accident. The good news is, I can reopen my soap shop with just a few modifications.

To keep things moving smoothly (and easy enough handling it only with my left hand), all shampoo bars will come in simple paper bags, and bar soaps will be offered naked (package-free).

I look forward to a full recovery quickly and getting back to using both hands — thank you so much for your support and understanding.

P.S. Thank you to everyone who has sent comments/DMs wishing me a speedy recovery — your kindness truly means the world to me. I’m so grateful for all your support and encouragement.
